My name is Akinbambo Oluwadare, I was born in Lafiaji Lagos Nigeria and lived in the Ypsilanti Community for most of my life. I attended Eastern Michigan University where I graduated with my Bachelor degree in Social Work and shortly after I received my Master’s (MSW) at Eastern Michigan University where I concentrated in children and family, with a minor in nonprofit management from Eastern Michigan University. Since graduating with my MSW, I have been working with Bright Future as an assistant site coordinator and transitioned into the role of  site coordinator at Estabrook Elementary School. Applying the knowledge of being a parent of three alongside my Social Work background has given me the opportunity to apply theory to experience of raising children of my own. With my background experience I plan on creating a safe and nurturing space where students feel safe and express themself. In my free time I like to watch football (soccer), listen to music and spend time with family.

Program Description

Bright Futures at Y.I.E.S. serves 2nd through 5th graders.  Staff at Estabrook strive to provide students a safe and supportive environment where students will be able to express themselves without being judged. We provide students the opportunity to acquire leadership skills through project based learning. At Y.I.E.S. we pride ourselves in incorporating students’ families in what we do either by volunteering or just stopping by the room and observing what we do.
