My name is Jorge Luna-Cruz. This is my third year working with EMU Bright Futures. Previously, I worked for the Ypsilanti Community School District with English Language Learners. I am originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. I received a teaching degree in Teaching Foreign Languages from the University of Benito Juarez of Oaxaca. I have experience teaching students at different levels in Mexico and in the United States. I have worked with minority, indigenous, and immigrant communities, as well as, international students.

With the experience that I have working at Ypsilanti Community Schools and my time working with EMU Bright Futures, I want to continue supporting our EMUBF students at Erickson Elementary School by providing engaging activities that create learning opportunities and provide social and emotional skills to them.

Program Description

Bright Futures at Erickson creates a connection between the program, students and their families to reach goals that can help the social and emotional learning of the student. At the same time, Bright Futures merges this partnership with the students’ teachers and community leaders to create a positive impact in our communities. Students are part of an engaging program where safety has been prioritized and students can be involved in activities that support their academic achievement, creativity and engagment. Bright Futures provides services Mondays through Thursdays, from 3:30pm to 6:00pm.
