Current Theme: Performing Arts

The performing arts are a huge part of our community – they bring us together, they educate us, they are what we talk about, they express who we are. In exploring this theme, here are some questions to consider in your work:

  • How do I participate in the performing arts? 
  • How have the performing arts shaped my life? 
  • What’s difficult about being a performer? What makes it worthwhile?
  • Is my community supportive of the performing arts?
  • Why is performing arts education important?
  • What is the relationship between performing arts and policy in my community?
  • Who are the performing arts for?

What can I submit to the Blog?

  • Essays
    • Essays can be 300-1800 words
    • Essays can be personal, about an issue facing your community, or about a book, work of art, or performance that has impacted you.
    • Essays should be aligned with the current theme
  • Short Stories
    • Stories should be 300-1800 words
    • Stories can be true or fictional
    • Stories should be aligned with the current theme
  • Poems
    • Poems should be aligned with the current theme
    • Poems can be any length!
  • All Submissions
    • Submissions containing profanity or inappropriate/obscene material of any kind will not be permitted.
    • All submissions must be typed and submitted as a pdf. or Word document

What can I submit to the Gallery?

  • Paintings/Drawings/Collages
    • All art should align with the current theme
    • All mediums (oil pastels, watercolor, crayon, charcoal, pencil, etc.) are welcome!
  • Photography
    • Photography submissions should align with the current theme
    • Submissions of 1-5 photographs are welcome
    • Please do not submit photos of people. Photos of landscapes, animals, inanimate objects, however, are welcome! 
  • All Submissions
    • Submissions containing profanity or inappropriate/obscene material of any kind will not be permitted.
    • All submissions must be submitted digitally as small to medium sized png. or jpg. files

Submission Instructions

  • Please submit visual art as a jpg. or png. file
  • Please submit written work as a pdf or Word document
  • Please title your submission file using this format: studentname_CCC.jpg/docx/pdf
  • Please send your submission to CreativeChampsMi@gmail.com 
  • All submissions must be accompanied by a completed Artwork Submission Form as well as a signed Artists Agreement (signed by the student artists and a parent/guardian).
  • Forms requiring a signature (the artist agreement) may be printed, signed, and then scanned or photographed to be included in email submissions.
